Glen Ellement

Glen is the owner and director of the Hamilton School of Music. He teaches piano, guitar, trumpet, bass and music theory. He also directs the school's band program. Glen has been involved in the development of a number of music schools and programs in Hamilton, Burlington, and the Niagara Peninsula. He has organized and produced many concerts, summer school programs, and is currently the director of the Greater Hamilton Music Festival held annually at the Hamilton Convention Center. His students have garnered awards at local festivals such as Kiwanis as well as Festivals and competitions in Michigan, Washington, D.C and Los Angeles. A number of Glen’s students have gone on to make a career as a professional musician. He has also adjudicated at various music festivals in southern Ontario. In addition, he played with his own quartet in and around the Hamilton area until the late 1980's. Glen studied music, theory and harmony under many distinguished instructors including Greg Arnason, Neil Pupulin and Peter Maley.

 
  Nadine Burke

Nadine holds her Diploma of Applied Music with honours, Bachelor of Music, summa cum lauda, and Master of Arts in Music Criticism. While attending Mohawk College, Nadine received the June E. Caskey Teaching Methods Scholarship for her work at the Saturday Music School. Nadine has received instrumental and music instruction from many accomplished musicians including Vivian Minden, Helen Onishi, Suzanne Shulman, and Heather Laliberte. Nadine shares her enthusiasm for music through her varied teaching experiences including choir music director for a combined children and adult choir, volunteer educational assistant teaching recorder, and private instructor for flute, piano, vocal, and theory. She has completed her Bachelor of Education at Brock University and is a music teacher at a local high school.

  Lee DiClementi

Drums

Lee has studied drums with Jim Blackley, Freddie Gruber, and the great Gary Chester. He has played rock, funk, jazz, big band, and Latin. Lee has played in many top show bands across the United States and Canada. He currently continues to teach, offer clinics, and play professionally as a freelance musician.

 
  Christina Di Iulio

Tunes for Tots Program

Before coming to the Hamilton School of Music, Christina was an instructor for the ECE/Pro-school Program at Hamilton's Community Centers for ten years. Out of her genuine love of working with young children, she created the “Tunes for Tots” Program. It is a fun-based program that focuses on developing the child's ear for music using percussion instruments, dancing, singing, play acting, and crafts with a musical theme. The children are also taught beginner theory using workbooks, flashcards, and the piano keyboard. This program has been running successfully at the Hamilton School of Music since 1997 and is responsible for nurturing some of the most talented students at the school. Christina is also employed as a Natural Health Consultant in the Health Food Industry and has recently obtained certification as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist.

  Brenda Kushnir

  Charlene Mifflin
Instruments: Piano

A native of Merlin, Ontario, Charlene first started taking piano lessons at the age of five from her Grandmother. Past teachers include Ron Kingham and Doris Anderson of Chatham. Charlene completed her ARCT Performer's Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music in 2004. She currently works as an accompanist and teacher in Hamilton and Burlington. Upcoming engagements include Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto with the Oakville Chamber Orchestra.

 
  Rebecca Rathbone

  Arlene Storms
Instruments: Vocal

Arlene is a retired high school teacher who has spent many years sharing her love of singing with others. She studied voice under two distinguished teacher, one being a former opera singer and the other a graduate from RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts) in London, England. She has performed as a mezzo-sporano for the Bach-Elgar Choir and has performed across Canada as a lead vocalist for a jazz band. Arlene also has her certificates in Grade 8 RCM piano and theory. Many of Arlene's students have gone on to study music in university and arts schools while also performing in competitive and prestigious local choirs. Arlene loves nothing better than to instill in her students her love of music and great jazz.
