Adaptive Music Lessons

Our one-on-one adaptive music lessons are meant to be a fun and creative way for neurodivergent and little learners who may benefit from a modified music program to learn an instrument and be exposed to music in various forms. The repertoire and teaching methods used are adapted to suit the interests, pace, and learning styles of the student and are personalized to help students move at their pace, stay engaged and reach their goals.

Modified music programs help address different learning and sensory needs that are not accommodated by standard private lesson approaches. Important life skills such as fine and gross motor skills, social skills and working memory are emphasized, but the focus of our program is on fun and success. We prioritize the use of props, games, alternative communication tools, sensory breaks, and other creative options that may help students learn music the way that fits them best. The benefits of music for young children and children with special needs are well known but our classes are not meant to be a therapeutic intervention.

This program is taught by Registered Early Childhood Educator, Kerrie Smith (Kindermusik With Kerrie), who is in her fifth year as an RECE, with 10 years experience working with children in a professional setting. You can read all about Kerrie Smith in her post here.
